“Carbon Nanotubes – new options for innovative textiles” will be presented at the upcoming International Textile Conference which is taking place on Dec. 4-5, 2008, in Dresden, Germany.

Dr. Helmut Meyer, R&D Manager for Baytubes® with Bayer MaterialScience AG, will give an overview on current CNT technologies with focus on applications and new application potentials in textiles and fibers.
CNTs are generally used to improve electrical and mechanical properties in various materials, especially in polymers and coatings. Thus, they are a favored material for the preparation of mechanically reinforced fibers as well as for antistatic or electrically conductive textiles.

In his talk, Dr. Meyer will discuss possibilities and limits for use of carbon nanotubes in polymers. Various examples for applications of carbon nanotubes in polymers will be given and ideas for use in textiles shall be illustrated.
